Bad trim cylinder on my TRS

It looks like I have a bad trim cylinder that will extend but not retract. The drives are TRS 280. The part number on the cylinder is 47342-c1. I can't find one anywhere! What makes this worse is that this a 1977 scarab so I doubt they still make anything from 1977.

Any thought or ideas? Let me know.

couple of ideas; first - might just need cleaning or air bleeding; second - rebuild kit may be available; third - newer style ram should fit, there have been at least two types used on TRS. Not sure about this but Bravo rams may be an option. Page Jim (mobilmercman) or Griff - they seem to know all the dope on this stuff. Good luck. -Jeff

Found 2 rams of the same part # on ebay, so I should have a spare or two whene I'm done. After the rams go on, I will be getting on with the rest of the electrical-but the boat should be able to see water if need be. I have 1 of the 2 bomar hatches I ordered right now. I still have the windshield issue to deal with and I want to do something with the dash. My idea with the dash is come up with a anodized aluminium dash that puts a compass right between the tachs. We will see. I must say this forum is keeping me motivated.

I have 3 brand new spare rams I bought last year for my ride. Turns out TRS had 2 different styles. These are the new style. Measure yours, I'll check mine Monday. PM me. Maybe they will work for you.

Well I got the rams I bought off e-bay and found they had a thick layer of black paint covering up a mess of dents. The inverted flare threads were also in poor condition-one has already stripped out. So I am again looking for TRS trim ram cylinders. My starboard trim pump has now gonwe out as well. I took it out and found a bunch of white goo and metal in the bottom of the tank. I think I found a name for my Scarab..........BAD JU JU!! Anyway........anybody have any good trim cylinders?

My advice is don't buy used trim cylinders or headers. New ones cost me $530 each.

$1060 plus shipping for a pair does not sound good right now. But they would be new and would actually work.

Anyone know where to get rebuild kits for the TRS Rams. Mine have part numbers 87411 and 87412. I have some leaking at the shaft but other then that they are in great shape so I really dont want to buy new.

Thanks

You can still get rebuild kits. I had mine done this winter. I also think the Bravo one is the same.
