Sorry not templates but measurements. Of course, I guess this one won't really need measurements since it's still painted. The codes will be nice though. I don't have his name. I had to delete my inbox after I replied to him b/c I was out of room. Hopefully he PMs me back soon though.

Was it Tom Jewsbury?

Best to make a template right from the boat.
The season 5 stripe is different from the previous seasons.
The bottom of the stripe drops off further back making it narrower.

As soon as I get a trailer lined up I'm going to get it. I've got to go to Lakeland (between Tamp and Orlando) for business on Tuesday but I doubt I'll be able to resist running down there just to check it out and take lots of pics plus hopefully be able to find out more about what has really gone on with this boat over the years.

They emailed me a TON of pics already though. Had someone else with an MV-KV offer to send me all the paint codes and some stripe templates so that'll be a big help if it comes through.

I sell RVs so I have paint, interior, and mechanical guys on staff that can do most of the work. Just crossing my fingers that nothing is rotted. I'm assuming something will be, but hope springs eternal. Gotta sell some other toys to finance the resto, but at least it will be inside my shop and out of the weather in the meantime.

That is awesome! Congrats! We need an resto thread! You are on our Facebook page correct?

Pedigree or not, a deck off restoration is the only way to do a boat that's in that condition.
It took Tom close to seven years to do the season 2 boat.
Second hand info was that he had 160k into it when it was finished

We still need to locate the other MV edition 38KV's. I know of one up in Maine but never got any contact info, there was another one getting restored in in the New Jersey area, and then the "Craigslist Boat in New York" be nice if someone could get us some leads!!

Also the "Wild Wild West" boat that was on Craigslist a while back.

Anyone can help we would appreciate it.

A Deck off restoration usually ends up with just that..never getting the deck back.. instead just strip to bare hull and glass the deck totally together, If transom and stringers need replacement a deck off isn't needed on boats this big. I wouldn't prefer it either as the hull might not line up properly with the deck again and even lose some stiffness and crack in the process.
Ski boats Yes it's easier 'cause of limited space but a pain to attach the deck back.
-Been there.

The paint codes are listed here somewhere still-just do a search.

So Tom took a hit of some 100K on his project thenagain it also got upgraded. Still these 38KV's doesn't exactly get flying.. they are side by side boats with an interior and built by a massproducer aka Wellcraft.
No Larry Smith 38's or Race Apaches/Cigs for sure.
Thenagain who needs to go like hell with your close ones riding in.

Also on another note it has been said for ages the classics will come up in value but as we have seen not happening so let's keep it real. Not even for Race Apaches with a pedigree which are considered the Top Dogs as (newer) step bottomed boats run circles around them unless you're in weather nobody wants to be in not even racing nowadays.

Regarding Race Scarabs aka Team Scarab boats of Larry Smith they are also for sale cheap like any old resin bucket that's outthere despite being Kevlar boats which 38KV's aren't.

Years back I thought the 38KV and MV's would be the only ones for me forever.. then it evolved to LS boats then to A41's and nowadays I look with wider eyes as there's all kinds of stuff for sale Cheap. Sad thing is people do loose interest in big projects allover and I wish everyone getting involved good luck in these and keep focus in what you can tackle.

Anyone know where I can buy a trailer somewhere between Mississippi and Miami? :party-smiley-048:

Congrats, I've always wanted one! I'm right down I-20 from you. Maybe I can see the boat sometime if that's ok. My buddy currently has a trailer sitting in Ft. Lauderdale right now. It has a boat on it, but the boat may be staying which would mean the trailer needs to come back this direction. Would you like me to check into it?

You mean those on the "market" so to speak or all, there's a lot of those on the facebook group that we know of.
Mint MV edition boats can be had for anything between 35-50K even in Europe and the priciest has under 140hrs in it totally...
