Imco Shorties on single 29 Scarab?
Any one try a imco shortie on their 29 scarab? I am running mid 70's with a bravo one and a 26p bravo 1. What will I gain if anything with the shortie? What prop would I want with the loss of bow lift from the shortie? Any help or experieince would be great.

Thanks for the response. I can't decide to spend the cash or not. From what I have heard you don't really gain much unless you are over 80 with a shortie????

No I haven't. Only the bravo 26p since the build.

I have been told by quite a few people in the know that our boats would respond well to the shorty as far as speed, but Ive never talked to anynone who actually tried it on a 29' with bigger power. I'm guessing your running at least 600+ due to your speed with the 26p so getting your lift back shouldn't be too hard. As far as not helping till 80mph, I'm not sure. I know its true with a just nose cone cause anything under 75 and you could actually put down force on the boat as you trim up, I know I picked up speed when I took mine off. But the shorty should improve the overall X-dimension.

great info fast22. I am making 625 on the dyno and am trying to push it to 80. I am a solid 72 almost every day and 74 with1/2 tank 2 people in cool weather. I have now heard from 3 people that a shortie on my set up 29 single change in the X dimension would be an improvement speed wise. I guess I will start looking for one now.

Now for a prop what would I start with? Could I try the bravo 26p that is getting labbed as I type at Throttle Up or will I need a different prop for the imco?

Not sure if the prop will work, It would be a good place to start but I think alot of the shorties come with the 1 1/4" propshaft, although I could be wrong. You may have to move up in pitch cause the new x-dimension may create more slip since it will be closer to the surface and could airate a little more. As for the type you would definetley want to stay with either a bravo or a hydromotive round ear for bowlift. I think the cleaver type will create sternlift. I'mvery interested in what youfind. I have a 12" stellings box set at nuetral wich do to the extra length actually puts the drive lower than stock. I'm making right about 620@5300 with 5lbs of boost, slightly worked 26p bravo and on GPS I'm getting 72 on a 1/2 tank and 2 people, and I can get 68-69 fully loaded.

WOW almost the exact setup I am running. 509 with a B&M 250 making just under 5lbs of boost. I could only turn the prop about 5050-5100 last year but I had a slight ding in the prop after my 2nd run:mad: I tried to get my hands on a few others to try but for one reason or another never hooked up with them. I will be sure to keep you posted especially if I get an Imco lower.

Sounds good, I'm hoping to have one on the boat and dialed in before we leave to go to the Emerald Coast Pokerrun in August. So let me know how it goes. I thought about removing most of the hook from the back of the boat, I have alot so I know it would pickup speed, but it does make the boat very driver friendly at any speed. Plus the boat would be down for a while, and I loveriding:cool-smiley-027:
