23 scarab prop questions

i have a 22 foot scarab that i have put some new power along with updating it i now got the bugs worked out now im trying to to get started on propping right. my motor is a 489ci bbc with a 177 blower, ported merlin square ports, full hyd roller and 950cfm holley. ive got a 25p mirage plus on there right now. it has a a bit of torque steer in it on plane, but gets on plane easy, has blown out romping on it on a hole shot. Ive run it up to 5800-6000 rpm trimmed up doing 77 on the gps i think my prop is holding me back some i would like a prop for top end and mid to high accleration, if it is possible.

Try a 28P B1 or a 29P mirage +

thanks for the input would the b1 have less torque steer and better mid range? on my 25 mirage it just seemed like i was creeping up to 77 from about 60 or so will the higher pitch prop make it peppier on the big end?

Find the right B1 prop for your power range (probably a 28 pitch) and send it to Bronson Hill and get diameter slightly reduced and prop labbed.

You also want some cup taken out to generate less lift. This boat does not need a lot of lift, and you will find that it is rock solid at top end with a prop that does not generate a lot of lift.

Also, the 4 blade will give you much harder midrange acceleration. It should throw you back in the seat. Sounds like you are over-revving the motor and are not in the heart of the power band above 60mph. My 502MPI accelerates very nicely up to around 70mph.

The reason I know all this is because I'm in the middle of some prop testing myself. . .

oh i forgot to tell you how it fits, the bulkhead in front of the main blower pulley is cut out in a half moon and fiberglassed, had it done when i put a new floor in it. and the bench seat is moved foward just a little, this cuts down on the cockpit room but hey im driving what do i care!, and when i had my engine hatch re made i added about a inch to the length of it, then of course the carb and 3x10 inch flame arrestor is up in the scoop. (i think with a little more modification i could but a 256 b&m style dual carb blower on it but im gonna put that off for a good long while.) i here is a link to the a pic on how i re did that ugly dash.http://www.texashotboats.com/gallery...t=10414&pos=13

Nice setup but I think you have a 22 Scarab. All the guys that responded here were talking about a 23 SCS, which uses a different hull than your boat, so just wanted to let you know:
