1st Scarab
Hi Everyone,
Last Friday I was able to finally achieve a longtime goal and I bought my first offshore boat. It's a 1980 Scarab II 300. Pretty much a stock boat with some low hour 454's and TRS drives. I live in Sacramento CA and picked it up in Dana Point CA. Had it out in the chop that day. What an amazing time! I wanted to thank Scottie for answering a few questions for me prior to buying it. I look forward to getting to know everyone. Sharp ride, Congrats & Enjoy

If you have any questions or need some help let me know...I'm in San diego. If you are in the bay drop me a line and I will run with you.

Eddie Thanks, Lots of questions, trying to read up first as much as I can. Late spring early summer I'll be back down for a Catalina run and some time in the bay. Like wise if anyone wants to go run the Sac Delta and River there's always room on my dock for another.

Welcome to the CLUB! Happy times at the GAS PUMP! :ernaehrung004: |
The gas pump is killing me! I was a little shocked when I dumped $200 in and only had 3/4 of a tank.

Its still fun to hear the gas turn into NOISE! |
Nice clean, Scarab.
a fellow nor-cal'er. we be seeing you around the hood I'm sure. Congrats and enjoy in good health and be safe, GC |
Nice boat! Now comes all the fun of owning an older boat. I told my wife just over $200 when I was already at $350 the first time I filled it up from almost empty! Worth every penny though!

Are these boats too big to go fast? I know what's fast right? 70-75??

How fast do you want to Go? |
Last night I got 58mph on gps at 4k rpm without timming the drives. (my pumps aren't working very well) 23p Mirage props low gas and 3 people.

you Scarab-boys can chime-in and correct me i may be off a bit. IMO, if you trim-up those trs's to air-out that bad-boy and get those bigblocks to spin 4600-4800, you may see low to mid 60's, especially in salt, decent numbers for a heavy V. BTW, what part of the delta do you play? If I see ya, I will make sure to say hi. If you are ever running the bay, love to run with ya, plenty room to air-out for extended WOT runs without the worry of lake-lice. We usually play out around Racoon Straits, great runs from SAMs out past the gate. Be Safe and wear those lanyards, GC |
I live on the Sac River. Haven't spent enough time in the Delta but I'm up for it. Let me know when you're going out and I'll meet ya. If you're ever out on the river let me know. I get out and run around in the evening a couple nights a week. I call it therapy.
