80's Scarab II
Fellow Off Shore boaters,
Any idea what a 1980 Scarab II with rebuild 454's sell for? I would say the boat is in fair/good shape. The interior looks good and the outside has been painted. For the age, the boat does look good. |
Any pictures? I just bought mine pretty cheap but only one engine was rebuilt.

If the boat can be bought for the right price, then fixing it up and using it for a couple of years would be worth it. If not, I'm going to up the year and amount of green I'm willing to pay and get a newer boat that doesn't require a lot of time or $$$ just to hit the water. |
I say 10 grand

Price is always dictated by condition. The demand on a early 80's Scarab 2 is pretty low- and it takes a lot of $$$ and time to bring one current. If everything is all there, it has a good trailer and it runs good 10K-12K is a pretty good value. But- if there is anything wrong- make sure you take that into account because things get expensive really quick!!!

Like scottie said, some time its better to spend a little more money on one, than doing a whole boat over!!!
Hope it works out for you!:ernaehrung004: |
Not sure what area you're in, but a clean one with nice trailer new paint new interior and fairly fresh power just sold here for $8900.

Here are a couple of boats in my area that I'm considing looking at.
I pulled the Blue Book on this boat. The Average is $11,300 with a trade in value of $9700 http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/boa/1120589737.html This boat was even less. I don't have the numbers in front of me. http://saginaw.craigslist.org/boa/1122288618.html What do you fellow off shore boaters think? I have seen a few on ebay sell for less then 10k. I can't image these 30 year boats are in high demand. |
The one in saginaw with the updated engines would be a nice buy. Did you buy one yet? Some interior photos would help.
