need to move a 38' Scarab Listed in classified
1996/2009 Scarab 38, This boat has two brand new Mercury Racing 525SC Blower motors with zero hours (yes, zero). They got the MSD, Hydraulic Cams, Roller-Rockers, fresh rebuilt blowers; bypass cooling system (75% all new parts). This boat also comes with custom build Bravo XR Drives from Max Machine Worx with zero hours on them, turned by a 32 pitch Bravo 1 4-blade SS. The boat has all new Auto Meter blue Gauges, with matching steering wheel, all new wiring harness, all new cables, just rebuilt the transom and much much more. This is like a brand new 2009 boat, TURN KEY ALL DAY LONG. I have all the receipts to show what I spent on rebuilding this boat. The boat sits on a three axle trailer, which is in a great condition as well. What I have paid in parts and labor to do all these modifications are over $80,000.00, not including the boat or the trailer. I will entertain REASONABLE offers. Unfortunately for me, I am going through tough economic times and I can no longer afford to keep her. My loss, your gain. Make an offer! Joe 310 460-6646

Hmmmm, how is it that my 38' with 575sci motors barely turn 28" Bravos and his 525 boat can turn 32"???

Yep,
I have a 98 38' Scarab that had 600 SCs originally. The 502s were transformed into 540s. They now produce between 750HP - 800HP. I am still running 28" 4 blades. |

John, what drives are you running? XR's or Bravos? And what speeds do you get out of them? I cannot seem to break over 5000 RPM and about 75 MPH. (w/XRs' fully trimmed). I assume with 750-800 RPM you can hit 5300-5400 and about 82-83-'ish correct? I also think we spoke about this a couple of yars ago when I first got my boat and you said you tried 2" shorties with 1" spacers (1" shorter total). Mike
P.S. sorry to hijack this thread |

Sorry haven't looked at this thread in a while.
I have 1.5 Ratio Imco 2" Shorties. Part of my problem is the boat came with 600SCs originally. That was not a standard engine package in 1998. I believe they mounted the engines lower than normal because of the height with the blowers. This translates to a really low X dimension. The props are still about 3.5 inches below the boat. My motors are about 800 HP each now. The boat runs an honest (GPS) 80 on calm water. On lake michigan with more choppy water I can get about 83. Need to get a different drive that is higher but don't have the cash for something like Arnesons. The guy that builds my engines has Arnesons. Maybe I should lift them when he not looking!! |
I Call Shananigans. No Way A 525 Can Spin A 32 Four Blade With Any Use Ful Results On A 38 Footer.
Oh, And Get Out Of The Scarab Forum, You Formula. |
H:bsflag: HERE THIS IS EASY

Hello there, everyone, away for a short period, reading through the thread. Yes, this is not my boat, selling it for a very close friend. I got him into this boat and did all the running around and purchases for him. 32 Bravo's is what I had to give him for the boat. We have not run the boat and it might need 28's on it? Yes, it's a very nice clean boat, all and everything new on it.
If i did not have my own project, would take this one for myself. Anyway summer is here and let's all enjoy.

I'm sorry, but back when I had my 7.4 lx powered 22' Scarab it went 64MPH....PERIOD. Then I would see people out there claim that their 22' 300hp (7.4LX) would go"75+MPH" b.s.-b.s.-b.s. I am just trying to be realistic . Maybe Empire0007 is only going by what he has heard and is selling the boat for someone else. I wish him good luck with the sale. It is a very nice looking boat with a nice engine package (the same my boat originally came with). It is a tough market out there,I know, and a tough economy, for sure.....Mike

Thats cool. Empire0007, before you sell it you should probably swap the props for 26"B1s or even 25" Mirages (although 3 blades may blow out) I spoke to a guy in Havasu last weekend with a 38' Scarab (1998) and he has 502 mags that runs 23" mirage props and said he runs consistant 65-70. I may try 27" mirage or go back to labbed 26"s or something.Mike

Thanks for the info. I don't think we will be putting this boat in the water and i will let the new owner decided what they wanted to do. I just had a pair of 32's and i use run 34's with those motors in my Baja 33 SST before
