22 scarab moving up the outdrive
 

Does anyone have some insight I have a 94 scarab 22' and I found out that the transom was rotten so I have ripped out the transon and stringers up to the gas tank. I'm adding all new stringers and a new transom and I want to increase to top speed and I'm thinking that it is a good time to move the motor and outdrive up 2" It looks like the motor was originally set up for the height I want to install but the transon was glassed in and the motor moved down 2". the only reason I know is because I can see the original keyhole. Maybe it was set up for a 350? Anyway can anyone help confirm my idea that this would be a good improvement. I'm also bumping the hp on the 454 by approx 100 hp with a intake carb exhaust and a cam. I would love to get some tech info from anyone who has this boat and has done some mods. Has anyone tried a shorty drive on this boat?
