scott, your original scarb graphic should slant to the front and be about 4-5" tall, as oppossed to slanting backward. it should be on the upper gunwhale as opposed to the side of the boat.
hot boat, send me any info you can on the 90 26cv. i can give you my hull number if you send an e-mail to [email protected]. :evilb:

Hey JT thanks for the advice, i have decided to stick to the outboard configuration, im think about running twin 250 yamahas 4 strokes for the fuel economy reasons. But not sure 100% i heard that them two strokes really give you a kick. I will have pics once im done, i will also update on how it runs with the outboards. THanks for the help any advice is greatly appriciated!

I have a 1990 26 Scarab cv. I have owned it since new. It is equiped with a stock 454 merc. I want to upgrade to around 550 HP. I was wondering if anybody is running that configuration, and if so, what kind of speeds are you getting. Mine has all the original graphics. Another question is has anyone changed the x dimension, it seems that the outdrive sits to far below the bottom of the v.
Thanks

550 HP should get you mid 70's with no problem. Biggest challenge is finding the right prop. I ran a 3 blade and it seemed to carry the nose too high, went to labbed 28 pitch 4 blade merc, and it seems to be best. Don't know about changing the X on these boats, but I did speak to a gent about a year ago that ran a blackhawk on his and he loved the top end increases, but also stated that the boat lost much of it's handling at speed. I think that if anything I would put a neutral extension box with an inch shorter lower unit... This should get more clean water to the prop, plus help you out in rough water. If you really want to know the best setup, I would try to contact someone from Archer Marine in Cali. or Larry Smith himself.

Congrats on your fine purchase.

I assume you're referring to the 262 Fisherman with the Offshore Pkg? In chapters 9 and 10 of the owner's manual, you can read about the electrical. Link: Wellcraft Owners Manual

The best Forums for you are http://www.thehulltruth.com and http://www.bdoutdoors.com
