abandoned panther anyway to get a title for it

there is a abandoned panther at wat looks to be an abandoned marina. tried calling the office phone no answer. obviously nothing has been touched in a decent amount of time everything over grown. the boat itself hasnt been registered in over 10 years. I was wondering if there is anyway to get a title for this boat

I would think that the owner of the property has legal claim to the boat as it is abandoned on his property.

if it's an abandoned marina, odds are itnow either belongs to a bank or the county.

I just bought a boat this way! There are several things that have to happen. The current owner of the property will need to send a certified letter to the owner of the boat. They will also need to run an ad in a local paper that the boat will go into auction for 4-6 weeks, if I remember right. Then they need to advertise in local paper there will be a public auction and list the boat. If you win the auction you will then have to take copies of everything I just mentioned to the local DMV and apply for the title. Sounds like your in for a lot of work and research. You can't just apply for a title or have the current property holders give you the OK to remove the boat. You could also have a sheriffs auction but either way you will have to do the public auction process.. Otherwise you could go through all the work of fixing the boat up, and the current owners could come in and claim the boat, and you would be out all your work and money and/or be charged with theft.

Been there

Contact your state with registration numbers or the coast guard if it has a port of call. I have purchased a boat like this and it is jumping thru hoops and doing what needs to be done
