How do I decode my HIN??
 

I am pretty new to the boating world but I do have a history with old cars. The first thing I do(on an old car) is decode the VIN# to see where it was made, month,place etc. Does the HIN# on my 22' Scarab work the same way and can anyone help me with this one.

According to the owners manual on my 1995 Scarab 22, this is the breakdowm of the Hin number:

WEL XX XXX J3 94

WEL= Manufacturers ID code
XX= Model Designator
XXX=Serial number
J3=month/year of manufacturing
94=Model year
