need some suggestions
I have a 1997 33' with the built in swim platform. I'm interested in a ladder. I'd like to put one underneath, but the platform has that lip on it. If I have to go with one mounted to the top I will....but would rather not. Can you guys give me some suggestions on brands, styles, and mounts that you have ? Pics of your set up would be awesome !!!! If you can't post them here. ...my email is tinman467 @a o l. Thanks !!!!! :drink:

I guess its TECHNICALLY a 31...but its 33' 7" long. And as you can see in the original post...I said "with the built in swim platform".

i have a '98 33 AVS with built in swim platform. the ladder is thru bolted from underneath the platform into the swim platform cavity which is accessible from the engine compartment to tighten down the bolts.
the ladder is the telescoping type, you should be able to purchase online. good luck jim |
I have a thought for ya Tinman. Since you want an undermount and don't want to just screw it to your platform. Get a piece of SS and attach the ladder to that. Than take and get some "Good" handles that are threaded on the bottom and through bolt them to the plate so that the handles are on top of the platform. Trust me, you are going to want some handles. The way mine is set up is a top mount ladder through bolted with 10" handles on both sides that are also through bolted. A self retracting undermount sure would be nice though.
Might work, you would want to use at least 3/8", maybe even 1/2". |
Some handles like these...
http://shopping.rexmar.com/Merchant2...e=grablonggrip These are close to what I have. Which might work best for this idea due to the large flange at the base of the handle. http://shopping.rexmar.com/Merchant2...=grabstainless |
Thanks for the ideas guys. Jimishooch.....could you take some pics of your setup please ? Also...could you measure how far your swim platform extends out from the transom ?

here is the ladder that is mounted. top of swim platform is about 18-20" and underneath is close to 3'. but 1st you need to check for access in the engine compartment.
yes, a grab handle will be necessary to pull yourself out. good luck jim http://www.premiumpowersports.com/Wi...er-p-429.html# |

Tinman,
Here are some pics of mine, ignore the dirty a$$ boat. Everything is throughbolted with locknuts and fender washers on the under side of the swim platform. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...d/IMAG0515.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ard/ladder.jpg |
