what prop are you running on your 22
trying to get some input to find out what props are good on the scarab 22. i have a 350 .30 over, stainless marine headers, small cam , msd , weiand single plane x-celarator intake, 750 double pump holley , procharger at 6 psi, and i think thats it. i have a 23 laser on it now sucks the big one. i have tried a 25 mirage not enough rpms plus didnt like to plain off and a balistic 26 the ballistic was extremely fast on this boat but it was still way to much prop hit 71 gps at 4400 rpms. not sure if i should go a different route than a mirage plus 23. just trying to see what other people have tried. i would like to see around 5000 to 5200 rpms max. any help would be awesome are there any advantages to going with a 4 blade or a 5 blade pros cons
thanks |
A 27 mirage plus ( big ear ) it will work great
|
bravo 24P or a hydromotive 24P
|
Bravo 1 4 blade 28 ,good luck

He wants more RPM, he is going to have to cut back, not go up, he definitely needs a 23ish prop, but the question is, is the 23 mirage plus the way to go, or a different 23??
|
If he hasnt changed his ingition to a msd he is on his rev limiter, at 4800 standard merc if he dosnt want to spine it high with a small block , he should go up in blade,

i do have a msd ignition , a msd timing computer and a msd dis and coil. 30 of total degree of timing do you think 32 is to much? the rev limiter is set to 5500 but dont plan on running the boat that high max i want to run is 5000- 5200
|
also i dont have a nose cone on the boat do you think its worth installing one?
|
Nose cones really dont come into play until over 80 mph, thats what they say , i have a imco -1 shorty on mine and it has one . I am running about 600 hp and i push a 30 labbed bravo 1 to 82 mph gps to 5200 . ( it gets to be a hand full )

if i go 4 blade what is compairable to a 23 pitch in a 4 blade should u go up in prop size or down to be equal. i am just tired of testing props. will be trying a stand mirage 23 this weekend so i am hoping for good results.
22 four blade, the standard 23 mirage should do you good, if it does and you want more bowlift, pick up a 21 mirage plus, or have the 23 labbed. |
yea i hope this weekend with this prop works out well plus i think i will be selling the boat this next season for a scarab 29. so i want to have the boat all in order.
|
When I had the stock 454 I was running a 23P mirage and was pulling 5K RPM's so i would think the mirage plus would be a good prop for you to start. If you want to use a4 blade go with the Bravo 1 22P. or a rev 4 23P 4 blade. Call Brett at BBlades he can help you out with a test prop.
