What kind of info are you looking for, genral model info or specific history type stuff?

cheek 09-09-2010 02:35 PM

general info,speed, handling etc.

scarabman 09-09-2010 05:11 PM

It was/is a limited production boat based on the standard 34with the blinged out Emerson Fittipaldi design trim package. The 34 is essentially a 31 with a molded in swim platform if I recall correctly. It should weigh somewhere in the 7800 pound range and run roughly 69-70 mph with the 502s. They are a capable rough water boat with good handling manners.

phragle 09-09-2010 08:31 PM

Its on Ebay all the time.......

Tinkerer 09-09-2010 08:55 PM

It is a true 34 and the swim platform is bolted on. It is almost 36 ft long. I have the standard 1992 34 SCARAB and stock with 502's it would do 65 on GPS. And I think the advertized weight is arround 8500 lbs.

GEARYS 5600 09-09-2010 11:55 PM

A friend of mine has a 1991 34' scarab fittipaldi, It is a true 34 with a swim platform that will measure 36'. Rides great, handles good, with 500hp 502,s it runs low 70,s.

RARE boats, you dont see very many of the 34' fittipaldis

I stand corrected on the length.

Is your friends 91 the same as the 93 pictured that is being inquired about? For some reason I recall the 91s having a little spoiler looking thing molded in behind the sunpad and I thought they had side vents almost like a naca duct?

som beach 09-10-2010 12:08 PM

I believe the boat pictured is a 31 Excell Fittipaldi, not a 34. I have seen this boat for sale off and on for years. I have always loved it and look at the adds every time I see it.

Scarab 34

We have a 93 SCARAB 34 it has been great for our family. Many trips between Lake Havasu & Catalina Island. Great offshore handelilng. I too have a hard time finding any information for this boat. I wish I had the 502 motors, unfortunately I only have the 7.4 motors but am planning on yanking them here in the next few months and start going through them to masssage some more performance on a limited budget. I hope someone out there can share more.

I wasnt even aware that they made a 31 Fittipaldi? The Fittipaldi Editions had a Special Edition plaque in them.

jez350 09-13-2010 04:01 AM

Anyone know how I can insert an image??

Our Scarab 34 09-13-2010 05:33 PM

Tinkerer,

I sure I do I will have to dig them up. How about you?
I find very limited people with this year & size. I don't even know if this boat has a specific model name.

som beach 10-14-2010 03:43 PM

There is a member on here that used to own one of these, if not this very boat. I believe his name is Michael Garibay. He now owns a 38ft P-38 Scarab in Cali. You might send him a PM and see if this was his boat, or he may be able to give you some history.

jez350 10-14-2010 06:07 PM

I have a one page advertising brochure on the '91 Fittipaldi that shows available options....

Michael Garibay 10-16-2010 12:22 AM

Yeah it's my old boat. Served me well for 7 years. The guy who I sold it to lost his wife to cancer about a year after he bought it. He sold it to the current owner ( I think) about a year or so ago.

som beach,

Are you referring to the Fittipaldi everyone is talking about or my SCARAB 34?
Aaron

som beach 01-26-2011 11:38 AM

I was talking about the black and red one that started this thread. I absolutly love the early 90s 34 Scarabs like yours The older 80s Scarab IIIs are nice, but the boats like yours just look sleek and refined, and fast. I like your cockpit setup, too, better than other 34s I've seen with the side-by-side bolsters.

My short list, if I ever win the lottery :) will be (in no particular order)
89-93 31 Excel Scarab
90-93 34 Excel Scarab
86-88 38 KV Scarab

Our Scarab 34 01-27-2011 09:41 PM

Very Cool!

Thanks for the kind words som beach

Theres a lottery?

Maybe i need to check into this?

I did have an 89 EXCEL 29 before this. It was a great boat as well.

My favorite part of my 34 is the full laid back wrap around windshield and integrated swim step. I think it just makes it look fast, even though i'm still working on that part.

I worked with Emerson from 1990 through 1996 and drove his personal boat back around 1992 or 1993 (I can't remember). At that time, it had 6 liter AMG Mercedes engines in it and ran about 74 mph. We had a good time kicking around Biscayne Bay that day. Later on, then engines developed issues and had to be swapped out for Chevies. Emerson's sone designed the graphics package; always one of my favorite color combinations.

I DJed for Emerson at his Key Biscayne house twice during that time,
