Attention Scarab fans !!!
Wellcraft Marine has changed its web site and taken down the last vestages of information provided in performance specs and catalogs ,ect.
for owners of older boats which is "Crap "!!!! In the past all one had to do was go to the web site and scroll down and get a lot of information that you could not find anywhere else ---- Now most of that info is gone!!! You guys need to protest to them or the information will be gone forever ! :bsflag: Thanks guys: Jim |
Good morning,
I am interested in hearing your grievences. I am the programmer that developed the new site. I also want to make you aware that all the manual, product information, and performance specs that I was given are placed here. There is a link in the top navigation from every page on the site. If there is any resources that used to be available and can no-longer be found, I can at least ask around for any missing documents. It is possible that the information is obscured by the way the pages load, requiring you to scroll down after selecting a category. I do mean to fix that at some point to make it more intuitive. Thanks for your input, Daniel |

I think it sucks that they have removed that part. When I bought my 29 in October I referenced that often. I don't understand why wellcraft has given up on the literature of the boats that built the Scarab name.

So the stuff in http://wellcraft.com/index.php/resources/information is incomplete?
I am pretty sure that we just copied the entire resource directory from the old site. We did do some renaming of documents for the sake of consistancy but everything that was there last year should still be there. Can you give a specific example of a boat model and data? If I can locate a specific bit of data it may lead to where the remainder. I am not at all familiar with older product. That is why I am here visiting the forums. That and I am hoping to present some ideas for improvements in Wellcraft's engagement of the community going forward. Thanks, Daniel |

Thanks, Daniel I give you a lot of credit for going out of your way and at least attempting to provide what was once there. I've never used the aforementioned site, but I think it is very cool of you to come on here, register, stand up for something, and attempt to change something that other people are unhappy with. Kudos to you for at least giving a sh!t... That's tough to find these days... |
That is the exact info I was referring to. I don't know how to find it on the site just yet but later when I have more time I will find it I am sure. Thanks for the help!
|
I just found it. Sorry I went through the site a little too quick the first time.
Now if only wellcraft had the original graphics laying around that they put on my boat in 95 |

Likewise we can't afford to be a faceless corporation. It is not any fun anyway. I just found it. Sorry I went through the site a little too quick the first time. LLCoder, most of the information posted before is still missing!!!!!!!!!!Put the old site back up and leave it alone...

Jim What info are you looking for? Makes and models and options? Power/Drive combos and options? LL - one thing that is a bit screwy, the numeric values that align everything are off. 1985 and 1986 are seperated by a bunch of numbers in the 2000's. Also, was there ever any info pre 1985? And is there any motor spec info anywhere? |
There was a break down of every model by year and size.. Then when you clicked on that tab it brought up pages and pages of information relevent to that model... As an example the 38 scarab AVS had 15 to thirty pages of info .. Now there is only 3 or 4 with a dark line drawn through it I know what I am talking about because I have all the manuals for that boat when I purchased it and they were also posted on the site the same way.
I have often referred the site to newbies who wanted information on their boat --- worked out very nicely!! Now it looks like some one decided to take a meat clever to the info...... Jim |
I believe the information like this was on the site before including the 1980's boats. They had it for all their boats. I just checked it a couple of months ago. A sad day in Scarab history. :(
Kudos to LL for trying to get it right!!! http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...Panther_86.jpg |
Just checked it again. A lot more info there, just hard to navigate. Years are not in chronological order. weird
|
Rookie,
I just looked for the image that you posted and it is indeed there. under information/1986 after hearing cigboat1's description of how he uses the information I can see how it is hard to navigate. Yeah I am aware of the chronological order problem. It bugs the heck out of me too. I will take some time to figure out what on earth is going on. They are certainly in order in the folder it pulls from. I underestimated the number of people who would be visiting that section of the site and with looming deadlines focused my energy elsewhere. After the new product pages the historical information is the most popular section of the site. For now I can clean up the chronology and ask for any and all information to add to the site. We will be revising the site for 2012 in the early fall so I can consider ways to rework searching the data. The site also has a real database for the first time (new boats only) so going forward everything should be available and not just in jpg format. Not terribly useful for this crowd but we're getting it right piece by piece. Oh and what browsers are you folks using? Please consider upgrading to firefox, chrome, safari, or even ie8. ie6 and 7 are a coder's nightmare. Basically we are forced to do things wrong to get it to look right. So if there is a black line through something that should be visible, chances are that you are using an old version of internet explorer that does not play by the rules. Thanks, Daniel |
I cant open any of the information there? Either directly, or by saving it to the computer. Of course, I am technologically challenged!:drink:

Now if only wellcraft had the original graphics laying around that they put on my boat in 95 I don't know if you are the man that can do this. Finding the graphics digitally would make a lot of people happy campers on this site. The one problem if you could do this is that Rookie would have no friends. As for the web site I have not tried recently but I had downloaded the complete manual for a 1995 22scarab from the site in the past. Thanks for the dedication |
thanks from an "old schooler"!!
|
I spent a bit this morning adding a sort routine to get the years and documents in proper order. That should make it easier to look at. I will look into adding some better search tools either for the next iteration of the site, or when I have a dull moment this year.

This is the customer service that you do not get when people have tried to call Wellcraft for this information. You are our last hope for this archived history. Jason |

Is a pop-up blocker intercepting the request? What error or behavior are you seeing? What browser and operating system? We try everything out on as many configurations as we can but we don't have everything.
Thanks, Daniel Probably a simple solution, but I work with my hands for a reason:drink: |

When I click on the information line I want to display, (2) boxes open, a small one on the left saying wellcraft but displaying no info, and then a second one that says "do I want to open or save the file?" It wont open the file either way. I am using Windows Vista and the program tries to open in Task Launcher. It does not give me another option.

Anyone have a copy of the 95' Scarab 22 manual downloaded that they could send me? It is not on the site. Thanks

I certainly care about the product that I produce (the website) and by extension the brand that it represents. Everyone at Wellcraft is also passionate about their product, but I think that there is a bit of a lapse right now in dialoging with the community of owners. It can be difficult for venerable old brands to transition to the digital age.
The transition has to be made though. No one is going to buy a boat at Wallmart. Likewise we can't afford to be a faceless corporation. It is not any fun anyway. Glad you got to the info you needed. I still need to get it to list alphabetically. Kind of a weird random bug. Let me know what else comes up. If the site isn't useful, I have not done my job. Thanks, Daniel |
