Can anyone tell me the possible variations of the 84 38 footers. Different layup options/models? Anything to look out for? I am not familiar with the earlier scarab's, thanks in advance!

Wellcraft's database of brochures only goes to 1985, but I will bet there is not much difference with 1985 and 1984.

they made a raised deck 38, which some were staggard, some were not. I believe the raised decks were around from 1979-1984 or so. Then of course the 38 flatdeck, miami vice style. the early 38 flatdeck's seemed to have notched transoms, while the later ones did not. The flatdeck style was like 1980-1987.

Some of the Kaama edition's were supposedly kevlar, and nomex materials, which made a lighter hull by about 1500 lbs over a non Kaama edition.

Raised deck boats had big cockpits, while the flatdecks had smaller cockpits and a long deck. They are cool boats, but the older wellcrafts were notorious for wood rot. Then again, most older boats are. Ive seen rotted cigs, scarabs, and Formulas.

Another question? So this would appear to be a 84 raised deck 38, no notch or step. What speeds have people seen with this hull? This particular boat has 800's in it, and running trs drives (for now). How fast will it go?

You can do a search even here on OSO and read Wellcrafts Gus Anastasia stated that the weight savings were only about 500 lbs tops...

I was just referencing a old magazine that I had that did a test on a Kaama edition. That was what they had stated for weight savings
