1986 Scarab Panther 29'6" twin 454

I picked this up last month. Been super happy with the boat so far. I had a hole survey done, and it came out excellent. The boat was retrofitted with gen V 454 efi magnums at some point. 1025 hours on the boat. No idea what are on the current engines. THe boat was originally from cali and last registered in 2005. I guess the guy moved up to oregon and bought the biggest aluminum fishing boat the dealer had and tossed this in as the trade in.

I just a sticker the other day that says My other Toy has Tits on the front drivers side area. it had always been covered by the cover when I looked it it

Anyhow, she needs a few small things. I'm rebuilding the raw water pumps, replacing all the switches, building a new gauge panel, buying a new depth finder/nav deal, possibly adding hydraulic steering after I take her on the maiden voyage.. TGhe stereo is also original, and all speakers minus the 15" sub are blown. I plan on redoing that. I also want to add a small freezer/fridge in it for cocktail hour :)

Pretty crappy vid of me firing it up in my driveway. Missed the few revs somehow. Found out I had a raw water pump that obliterated itself that day as well lol.

Nice, good luck with her....always loved the Panthers, my buddy has one that does 93mph, super fast in that boat, but he's a crazy man....if you need to know anything about the Panther he knows, super nice guy, his screen name is Blue Thunder......Joe

Great looking ride! I remember the first day I bought my Panther, boy was that a great day...

If I was ever to do it all over again the VERY FIRST thing I would do is:
1. Full Hydraulic steering!!!
2. Full Cover $336 http://boatcovers.iboats.com/Wellcra...t_id=614421294

THanks for the link. I didnt even think anyone would sell a cover for it. She is fully covered in a tarp right now, but)thats way nicer. Gonna go order one :)

I spent all this morning reading about steering setups. I'm real tempted to do a swap soon. I'll figure it out after the first trip on the water I suppose.

It's a semi-custom fit cover. I have the Aqua Shield in red.
And if you already haven't seen it. Here is a link to my Panther thread.

Very nice. Congrats.
One of my all time favorite classics. Not as fast as the new hulls but lets see how well they're holding up at 25 yrs old and/or in real world water. Saw tons more of those things out in the Lake Erie islands in snotty weather than any of the newbies.
Enjoy.
