I hate to hijack a thread but I'm using my phone and can't quite get through the forum that easy. I just joined so please excuse my lack of formal I just needed to talk to people of knowledge soon before I make possible mistakes. I recently picked up a miami vice edition 38 to rebuild. I did know from the start what it is but didn't realize it was that much of a limited edition, figured they made thousands of them. My plans were to customize it changing everything to make it fit in with my ford mustang collection. I had to make an instant stop because if this thing is worth restoring I need to know. Thank you and I am sorry for intruding

Talk to JetJock (Randy). Him and Wayne are probably the most knowledgeable about the MV boats. There is also a MV Facebook page too. From what I understand, Wellcraft only made about 35 MV edition KV Scarabs. Yes they are rare. Even rarer than some muscle cars. Where did you buy the boat? Any pics of it yet?
|
P-Rob, if you are still looking, I am selling my '88 KV MV. Please call Preston @ 479-651-4760.
|
Preston, what is your asking price?

Had to pull over so I could reply.
What year is your Vice and where are you located? Randy and I co manage a fb page dedicated strictly for Vice KVs. We have a registry of the boats by HID numbers to track them.. Send me some pics, info and the HID and I'll get it on the site. My email is [email protected] Wayne |

I have the boat you see in the youtube video's that was at mecum auction a couple years ago. Just a FYI for you guys that run the facebook page that are trying to track everything. I bought it 2 years ago from the owner in Ohio who bought it from the person in NY who did the full restoration a couple years prior to that. It sits in our race shop (heated/cooled) at all times. Probably gonna get it wet this summer soon. I have replaced the carpet with custom scarab carpet, had a new cover made for it, other than that the boat was in exceptional condition when I got it. Good luck to you guys looking for the MV editions. They don't build boats like that anymore. About like everything else

Romie, sad to say it but that Vice boat is a total disaster. It needs to be cut up and put in a land fill. To restore it would cost 4-5 times what it could be worth. I talked to the guy and the boat suffered a catastrophic fire. everything from the engines forward to the hatches is burned. I have no idea why the hull sides didn't catch on fire. I posted all the pictures on here ( http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...8kv-cheap.html ) If you take a look at the pictures of the cabin you'll notice it burned past where the dash sits. The guy thinks the hull is worth gold too, Told me that the exhaust was worth $2000. (for just tips)
|
im selling me boat are you interested,,,,im close to lake worth texas,.,,.,,lol
|
Kubelwagonman,
Can you send details on the vice ......pictures , price, etc ., I might have an interested party [email protected] |
Hello.
I just notice that one is for sale in Stockholm, Sweden: http://www.blocket.se/stockholm/Well...n_49446315.htm |
That is Free's old boat from Texas.. and now Andreas who had it over in Nordmaling. This is not you by any chance is it?
He was trying to sell it last year but his monster asking price didnt get any takers. Nice looking boat but I dont like the un-original cabin in the turqiouse and all the added on aerials and sunshades. |
I believe that boat sold for $10,000 USD when it left Texas. It had a notched transom, but the hull looked like it was back to mint condition.
KInda kick myself for not grabbing that hull when I had the chance. We are almost up to 900 likes on Facebook---have located a lot more 38KV Vice boats. Sad to say most are in pretty sad shape---we need some resto projects started to save these things! Running my 38KV Vice today....if the rain will stop! |

That would be one sweet boat to have. If you do get the boat. You could actually dress up as Don Johnson's character Sonny Crockett while driving the boat. A must have a course the Miami Vice Soundtrack. I wish you the best of luck.
