38 Scarab hatch clearance

anyone know off hand if B&M 250 w/dual 4's will fit under the hatch of a 93 Scarab 38 Excell/Thunder? I have a pair i was considering using in the 38 but i dont want blower scoops on the sunpad. I have a pair of fiberglass hats that can be cut in from the bottom for a few more inches in the pad, i'm ok with that but i do not want scoops. My other option is a pair of hopped up Mag EFI's i have that could go in no prob as well. Honestly id rather leave some speed on the table for the reliability of the EFI's anyway.

Just think'in out loud, gonna be a little while for i tackle it anywayz . . . . figure i could get some ducks in a row :D

Anyone wanna do a trade for a pair of Hawk 600's?

What's the x dimension? My hawk at 18" needed the scoops for the 174 blowers. But it also had a recessed sun pad. With the 3's and a 21.3" x the headers are above the stock hatch lol

its probably fairly deep, whatever would be the stock dim for an early eighties bravo boat. next time im around it ill measure it. kinda torn on the whole thing not really sure blowers are what I want on this boat.

3's w/21+x dim  . . . . yea thats up there

If its a stock Wellcraft you should have no problem just putting a burb in the hatch from underneath and carve out the foam and it looks stock have done 4 or 5 of them. Looks great and no one can tell.

cool thanks TA, i was hoping that i would get some first hand knowledge with this model. Looking at this 96 in the classifieds with 8-71's it does not appear they tower through the hatch, hoping my 250's are slightly shorter. Heck even if i have to have a little taller foam pad I'd be ok with that. I just didnt want scoops sticking up wreck'in my sun pad . . . . gotta work on my tan ya know lol :picard1: :D

I think at most you would need to raise the whole hatch 2", stock x is prob 15". Team archer knows much better I'm sure.

Don't scare the natives with that tanning LOL. What I have always done was set a block with the super charger on close the hatch and mark it out . Makes it fool proof!

I may hafta wing it, my 600's are complete assembled and I dont have a spare blower manifold. im pretty confident they'll fit with a little massaging. Still kinda on the fence if I really want blowers in this build. . . . . hmmmm . . . . decisions decisions :D I would probably be just as happy to move them and do some EFI's. . . . oh heck I dont know
