Try jumping power at the slave solenoid, they are pretty notorious for failure. In fact, I think they have failed on all but one of my boats.

u mean jumping it at starter seloniod?? i did that , and motor turns over great. thats what is the puzzle. starter works by jumping it , doesnt work with either ignition switch.
i even ran a wire from igntion switch starter sell...still just a click...click...
i guess i could swap starter.
is there another selenoid somewhere else.....??????????

There is a second solenoid, known as the slave solenoid. It takes the signal from the key and in turn sends a stronger signal to the starter solenoid itself. I don't know where it is located on your motor, but should be in the area of the intake manifold.

Just an out there consideration. I had an older 1977 Welcraft Nova. Chased poor starting issues all summer. Ended up being the big battery cables were old and not carrying enough amps.

Just try jumping across the two large studs to see if the starter activates. If so put a test light on the signal wire (I'm sorry I don't remember the color) and make sure it is getting power when the
