depth finder on AVS hull??
 

Anyone have a depth finder on a 33 or 38 avs hull, what did you use and where did or is it mounted? Mine didn't come with one, i haven't dragged bottom yet BUT i boat in places where you need one to stay in channel and safe, thanks, Smitty

I have a 1999 '33 and the sender is glassed in the bilge about 6" behind the bulkhead about 4" from the outside strake. The channel where I launch from has thiiin sides and it alerts quickly when I'm out of bounds. With the steps, it does not work at planning speeds. Its a simple Lowrance sender with the data mounts to the lower portion of dash below/left of the steering wheel.[ATTACH=CONFIG]558801[/ATTACH]

I have a Garmin 740s. The transducer is mounted 10" from transom and about 6" off center on starboard side. Works great, no step hull and reads while on plan.

Im wondering if there is anything that works on this stepped hull at planing speeds, even on the great lakes we have shallows, shoals and reefs that I used to use my depth finder on old boat to get around, maybe Ill have to make my gps work perfect if it has map capability's but our water levels change too, a few years ago when they were low some of the stuff out there was 2 feet below surface, this year its more like 4 feet

Killed my first set of props in 16 years this weekend, going to put some kinda depth finder on this boat this winter, found some concrete or something super solid and just destroyed a set of labbed 30's that worked perfect on this hull, sucks. I dont know how guys drive stepped hull boats without depth finders on tricky rivers and lakes!

I run a thru hull on mine.....but like everyone said, doesn't work on plane. Any other ideas for a stepped hull would like to know

What I have heard before is to mount it in front of the first step. But it won't work IF you are going very fast. Obviously it won't work through balsa.
