38 AVS Accurate information

Not that it matters one way or another but I am curious as to how many were made.

Also, what power and gps speeds are people seeing with what drive systems??

Built from '98-2002. 502 mpi 66 to 70 mph, 500hp or efi generally 75 to 78,few 500 with x set up just right and lighter layup over 80, 600 Volvo dpx 82. I was 85/87 with 680hp in 99. Now building and 01 with 800s. As to how many built maybe Dan at archer marine might know.

Few 575sci boats not sure on mph. My guess would be 80/83

What props, drives were you running with the 680's? How did it handle at those speeds?

Bravo 1 drives. 572/680 ran 30p 4 blades 5500 at LOTO. Handled great. 70mph with 502mpis 4900 26p 4 blades. Mpis would be ok if u raised rev limiter and ran 24 pitch to make it snappier but with 26 it feels like an electric golf cart engine. Have not been in 500, 575, or 600. 600 Volvo duodrive is supposed to be sweet set up.

I'm in the process of buying one with 700's. Supposed 85 with 30 Maximus. I guess we'll see

Should do that all day long. Post pic. Would like to which paint scheme it has.

If it's bravo one 5 blade is hard on them. I'm guessing 30p 5 blade about 5200 rpm. What engines are they making 700?
30 p four blade should do 85 5400 if u can spin more rpm and easier on the drive.

Any input? Know it? Stories?

That looks like a AVS we had here in NE Maryland. I think it had 500efi's.

The one from ne MD was purple and yellow. This one has blue and yellow. It was originally sold at a dealer on Kentucky then went to Michigan. This one has chief engines Whipple 700's.

You have one too right ? What power and drives?

Do they really do as well as I have read with the dpx and innovations?

DiamondPerformance 03-10-2017 07:40 PM

They do, Innovation builds a great motor, military spec, look at the alternator, it has 2 belts , and the DPX will out live a Bravo by years.

The last 38 built has 700 mercs is for sale and beautiful. Ac,gen. I had a factory furnished 33 with Volvo 600 dpx I used for dealer shows, poker runs, and Demo's. Outstanding in every way. Super dependable Innovation built engines but the drive as great as it is was the week link. Just to much blade area for all the torque. Same problem Blackhawk had if to much power. The Volvo 500dpx was not as hard on drives. Great engine in front of Bravo. I concidered buying the two engines that were for sale. They have a great cam bump.

I should add the drives if kept in the water are great. Just hard in a offshore boat.

You will enjoy your new ride. A great machine!!

Shallow Minded 04-11-2017 08:10 PM

Well done, great boats!

Baja226sport 04-12-2017 12:27 PM

I have only run it about an hour so far as I have been extremely busy and weather is less than perfect however I like it so far. In dead calm water trim 4-5 a quick run from 50 mph holding it open for 25-30 seconds I saw 84 mph. I think some chop and maybe a tic more trim 85-86 should not be out of the question. It was spinning the 30p maximus 56-5700 rpm.

I am wondering if it will do any better turning them in rather than out.
