1997 Scarab 29 Questions

1) Does anyone know this boat? I'm currently negotiating to purchase it.
2) Seller says a fuel additive put a stain on the port side, right below the fuel filler. If you look closely, you can see it in pictures. Seller is saying the wrap is damaged and this can't be buffed out. My surveyor is saying the sides are painted on this boat and its in the gel coat? What's the truth here? What would it take to fix this area if desired? If painted, could a talented painter touch up this area without painting the entire boat?

The boat was re-powered with 383 Mercs in 2012, they have 180 hours now. Bravo outdrives. Thanks in advance!

Simplified question: Would the side graphics on the boat above be painted on or a wrap/decal? Seller is saying wrap and can be removed, surveyor is saying painted on.

its probable a wrap that is not a factory paint job but the paint from factory was in the gel coat .some upgrades have been done to the boat like external hydraulic steering added boat looks to be pretty clean should be a nice running boat with the motor package

That is a factory paint job done by Magic Brush is can be repaired with out to much trouble I have a customer with a 38 with the same paint job and we have repaired it a couple of times from dock rash and other things.

Thanks so much! The current owner/seller of the boat is telling everyone it's a wrap, but it sounds like my surveyor was correct and the seller doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm in Tampa, FL, but boat will also be spending time in Charlotte, NC and Nashville, TN. Do you know what route would be best to take and get some paint work done? Anyone know someone who could correct in Florida or Carolina? Again, some fuel additive ran down the side and has damaged the paint, as seen in the photo below:

I called about that boat last week, must be why they never called me back. Aside from the stain, how did the survey go. Are they flexible on price. How did it hold up in the saltwater

PS, I like the small block power packages, I hate squeezing around the big blocks at my age

Not much room in there even with small blocks. I would assume you will be just as aggravated with these twin SB's and the 7.5 ' beam
