The best part is the market will dictate whether a 23yr old 29' blank hull will sell for $31,750. After spending years looking for a 36'+ bare hull I found the going rate for them was around $25-$35,000 in great condition, interior, bare transom, with trailer. Last I checked, I could get a new laid up 41' for around ~$100,000.
Best of luck with the sale, it is a beauty. |
Thank you everyone for the commentary on my P-29 for sale. To answer Knot 4 Me, the new transom assemblies are not mounted to the hull. The new transom and freshly painted bilge was literally just completed, so there is no rigging currently in the engine compartment. I am leaving myself the option to sell the new transom assemblies separately. I do have the old transom assemblies if the new hull buyer really wanted them, and I suppose I could include them with the purchase of the hull. However, they are in bad shape (which is why I bought new ones). I just updated the sales post:
Limited Edition P-29 hull w/ more desirable later edition Magic Brush paint scheme (compare to earlier numbered P-29s and you will see the difference), arguably one of the best condition P-29 hulls still in existence, BRAND NEW TRANSOM AND FRESHLY PAINTED ENGINE COMPARTMENT, kevlar hull, hydraulic steering, original Kiekhaefer hydraulic trim tabs, newer Livorsi GPS speedometer, (2) newer Autometer tachometers, newer Kenwood stereo with (4) newer speakers, original interior is intact and in PRISTINE condition, original cockpit cover AND full boat cover included and in good condition, boat title in hand. Stored inside. $27,000 (bring your own trailer) .............. Color matched 2002 Loadmaster trailer featuring drive guard in rear, locking toolbox, dual axles, 16” aluminum wheels, title in hand. +$4,000 .............. Two Blackhawk Drives (1:65:1) in good condition each with 31 pitch props (redone and mirrored by DAH Props, 0 hours): +$6,500 per drive .............. Two Mercury HP Transom Assemblies (brand new in box with warranty): +$3,000/each .............. Drop in two small block engines and this boat is back on the water in 2019. .............. The boat is TEMPORARILY currently located in a professional shop in the Lake of the Ozarks that could complete the rigging once purchased. However, that option is VERY time sensitive. .............. Bout fell out my chair once I realized it's actually $50K for hull, trailer, and drives, no engines. People that are shopping for a 24 year old boat are not going to pay that price.
I'm a small part of a team that liquidates a lot of personal assets. Perhaps I'm overly pessimistic due to my experiences including selling my own 28ft boat. I'm sure it's a fine boat, good luck on the sell. |

I am not going to waste my time too much by comparing my post to the other P-29 post you supplied. However, there are differences, like the availability of an aftermarket color matched trailer with drive guard (to protect the Blackhawks) and a brand new transom and freshly painted bilge (not cheap), and the fact that mine has been stored inside and not outside in shrink wrap.
If someone wants a P-29 rigged with the equivalent of stock power, then buy the other one. If someone wants to drop in their own power and just buy a P-29 hull that is in magnificent condition (for $23,000 less), then mine is a great fit. What I meant by my 5 years comment is that it is RARE for a P-29 hull to hit the market that doesn't already have power. That is indeed something that happens once every 5 years, and in the instances I have seen, those hulls are still about $15,000+ and in terrible condition. My P-29 is a solid hull that is ready for rigging, and does not disappoint in aesthetics. |
