Looking forward to following this thread as well. Hope to see it out and about once it's finished. I own an 84 Scarab 380 located south of Detroit. It is basically a 377 with a raised deck and larger open cockpit, I believe it was only an option for two years.

Boat has arrived finally! I still can’t post pictures I don’t think, but I’m wondering if there is a possibility mine is Kevlar? I read somewhere on here that there would be some kind of identification by the HIN? There is something near there but the HIN and such is so worn it’s hard to tell. I could text someone pics if they think they could help identify, and it looks like the HIN also says it’s a 1983 377.

KV stands for Kaama Vesrion, a tribute to the original Kaama race boat. Some people think it's for Kaama Vice (Miami Vice) but not correct since the KV's came out before the TV show.
BTW, I'm not that smart, I just remember Dan (Archer Marine) posting this some time ago)

Morning gents!
Was pondering in drive options, even though I am a long ways off, still good to think about. I have always wanted a boat with surface drives so those are my first thought. I saw a set of the inline ASD6 models for sale a little bit ago, would I be able to mount the engines low enough to use those? I see most Arnesons mounted up with stand-off boxes, I’m assuming that’s the way to go. If I don’t go surface drive route, I’d really like to get a set of IMCOs, and I also like the looks of the Bravo Shop B-Max drives as well.
I’d like to go bigger on the drives initially so I don’t have to worry about what power I have down the road, and be able to drive it and not worry about what’s back there.
What are your thoughts?
