1994 38 Scarab questions

Ok, I have a pair of 620HP (crank with dyno headers) supercharged 454's with SSMIII drives that I have freshened, sitting on the shelf. I bought a boat with them, mainly for the drive train, not happy with the ride or construction method of my current ride, 1990 Century Ultra III. (30' single step) I boat on the East side of Lake Huron.
So, there is a 1994 38 bare hull, that apparently had a small engine fire but did not cause any stringer damage, I can't verify it at this point, have not seen it or any decent pictures. It's 2 1/2 hours away so I'm just doing a little homework before spending half a day on the road.
Will my engine drive package be enough to get it over 70, yet be able to cruise slow enough to stay on top in the rough stuff?
Are they well built?
I don't want to do stringers and floor, but I'm ok with doing the transom to accommodate the SSMIII's.
I assume they are wave crushers
Thank you, any input would be appreciated. Jason

Based on the rebuilds and restos you see here, they aren’t high build quality and regularly rotten. Pretty good hull design as far as strait bottoms go.

That's what I was afraid of hearing, regarding the build quality. I was optimistic that they were better by the mid 90's.

Yes the boats are wave crushers but they are production boats so quality is not like a custom boat but that said if the boat was well taken care of it can still be a great boat. you need to make sure that the boat hasn't sat full of water for years because then it might need some extensive repairs. but its all repairable. if you have any further questions fell free to call Regards Dan

Thanks for the input, so far the seller has not made any attempt to provide pictures of the inside. So not going to move forward
