Default Scarab 38 AVS REFIT/REPOWER ATECO 540s

Made a short video on my project refitting and repower of my Wellcraft Scarab 38 AVS/. My family has had a long history with Wellcraft, growing up near the plant in Sarasota the first go fast boat I ever laid eyes on was a 377 Scarab….for a farm kid fresh from South Dakota, it was love at first sight! My dad owned several Wellcraft Yachts/Crusiers, he was in love with his 43’ Portofino and owned it for over 10 years. I bought a Miami Vice Scarab 38KV in 2007 and enjoyed it more than should have been legal! Sold the 38KV Vice Edition because the wife *****ed about it constantly—- got rid of wife—-and after searching for YEARS I found a 38 AVS less then 3 miles from my home in Texas.! I could have bought a Cigarette TOPGUN (was my plan) but the Scarab name has been in my blood that it just made sense to find a twin stepped 38 AVS and replace the 502’s. Special thanks to ATECO Engines out of Illinois and Clear Lake Power Boat service in Clear Lake Texas. The Composite Transom and Stringer replacement was done by Gulf Coast Fiberglass out of Dickinson Texas, they did a great job and came in UNDER budget! When does that ever happen? I am currently doing my “sea trials” and getting her dialed in. More on that later….

ATECO 540 Engines on dyno are 635HP a side.
Complete Composite Transom and new Stringers
New Transom assemblies
New Cockpit Carpet
New Fusion Radio Upgrade

Gorgeous boat. Cool resto video and history surrounding your affinity for Scarab boats.

Nice, always liked those boats.

Question, did they modify that intake I thought those intakes didn't support that type of HP.
