Scarab 26 extension box ??

Hi new to boats so excuse my ignorance. i have a Scarab 26 with a 572 motor. around 700hp.
went going 60mph the boat feels un stable, i was thinking to do the outer steering because i read its better at high speeds handling.
was googling and saw an extension box with arms in it. but also read that not all boats like the extension boxes !

anyone did an extension box on a Scarab 26 ? 1996 model

I'm assuming you're running a bravo drive? That kind of horsepower you definitely need hydraulic steering. Boats tend to make unintended turns at high speeds with cable steering (min did anyway). Show us some photos of your boat.

Yes it’s a bravo one, sorry can’t upload pic the system is saying that first I need to have 10 posts ! I m still new here .

you think with extension box will be good for this model ?

If your intended game plan is to put the extension box on with the standard Bravo drive, it will not be a good set up. When adding ext boxes, you will also be wanting to lift the prop shaft centerline, relative to the bottom of the boat, in proportion with how far back you move it. If you add a shortened lower into the mix, you might be getting close

Get an ITS, less work and it will clean up the transom.

Sorry 😃 but what is an ITS ? Any picture maybe

So that’s why some extension boxes are offset ?

Integrated Transom System. It's a Mercury product which combines hydraulic steering rams as part of the transom assembly where the outdrive mounts. It also acts as an extension box, providing 7 inches of setback.

That’s perfect for me!
If I buy imco box and outside steering Mayfair or something else I think will come more expensive and this setup is much smoother!
