What can you tell me about a 377 scarab, what is the dead rise, are they heavy as all get out? Are they junk, what is the story behind the 377 Scarab???

Got news for you. That's a 38 flat deck. The 377 is the raised deck version, usually with staggered engines. That may be the old "Hedonism". The bottom mold is the same in the 377 and 38 flat deck (later called the 38KV). The top deck is the only difference. Stringer layout also differs in the side by side vs. staggered 377. The 38s had a tiny cockpit by comparison. It doesn't hold more than 4-5 people comfortably.
Problems in all scarabs is rot in the transom, much less frequently in the stringers. Some of the 38 flat decks have problems with longitudinal cracks in the top deck. Usually due to delamination. Wellcraft used foam coring in the top deck with plywood around the deck hatches. The foam would occasionally delaminate leading to cracking.
The hulls on both were kind of heavy, solid glass, no foam of balsa coring. The good news is that they last forever.
TRS and Velvet drives are a great combo. Check gimbals carefully for play and leaks. They're probably due for a rebuild.
Check the transom carefully for rot.
Check the VIN number. If it does come back as a 377, someting "funny" may be going on.
BTW, the boat's over 20 years old. It will probably need a lot of stuff fixed. You can fix one piece at a time of just do a whole rerigging.

Gary-
I think you are right- it looks like a KV, and looks to be in good condition. I have pictures of a 377- It had staggered engines and a windshield with wood framing. The deck was raised with windows in the side- I think in the sides of the deck. Does KV stand for Kaama Victory or something similar?

Check the photos, that transom is not supported on that POS trailer. Do a survey!

But I like the boat.
