Question for MikeJ.

Got a question for ya Mike.

Have a friend that is looking at a 1990 28' Scarab Excel. He was asking me about this year model and I have no info to offer. What years were they made? What degree hull do they have. Is there anything special/different about them that would make them stand out versus a standard Scarab? Is there a better market value? Any and all info will be welcome.

By the way, this boat has a 500 HP and looks to be VERY clean. How much do you feel this boat would be worth?

Thanks,

Buck

mid 20s

a few members have them I think hotboat is just getting his back together. I have an 87 excel myself. The hull is pretty similar but without the swim platform.

puder,

What degree hull do they have? Someone told me they are a 21 instead of a 24. True or not?

The one I have found is listed at 35k. I was thinking it was a little high. But not hugely overpriced. What do ya think? I was actaully thinking of trading my 1996 26' straight across for it.

I have an '89 excel. I'm pretty sure it's a 21 degree rise.
They're a heavy boat (4600lbs) and take a lot of power to get them going. 365 HP mag - will run about 60 MPH. Even with a blower they only run low 70's. Ride is great though. 35K sounds high for a 90. Usually see the going for around mid 20's

Maybe it's just me, but I don't consider that to be heavy. My 26 weighs in at 4800 lbs dry.

The one I have found has a carbed HP in it. I was thinking upper 60s or so for speed.

I figured 35k was high. I am thinking mid to upper 20s for this particular boat.

a 96 straight up for a 90???

i dunno about that one. If your intereste di havea 87 i'dlet go for comparitivley cheap compared to taht. I'd like 25k for my boat. It has brand new 550hp engine (5 hours) new bravo, new interior, new wiring, new guages, new dash, new panel, new k planes. The cosmetics aren;t done yet but she runs and i was planning on finishing all the cosmetic stuff in the fall (prior to selling). If your intereste de-mail me.

she rides prety well for a boat her size too.

So, what are ya saying puder? Are you saying that he would be stupid to trade or that I would be?

I'm done hiding the boat. Here it is.

that does look pretty damn clean.

i think that trading a 96 fora 90 seems kind of crazy. Yeh ait might be alittle longer but its 6 years older. I'd think your 96 is worth more even a extra clean 90.

as for eth size i'd say they shodul be pretty similar. The 28 is prolly only 26 or 27 but they add the platform in to the measurement.

I think mine is worth more too. But my trailer isn't in near as good condition as that one.

I highly doubt a dealer would pay difference on a trade either. Who knows?

Love the all white:D
I do think it's overpriced. You can buy the 26' Scarab CV's for mid twenties. Extras look like you're paying for the HP500, Imco steering, bolsters etc. Mid to upper 60's sounds about right.
