Dash with instruments (Autometer Monster by Livorsi Marine). Steering wheel will be different (of course)

Fitting the helm for the steering

One of the seats "after"; on he back, it says "SCARAB".
Theme of the boat will be "BIOHAZARD" (obviously)

Thats it so far, the engine is due next week (377 Scorpion w/Sportmaster drive)
Still waiting for the Whipplecharger kit and some additional hardware from CP Performance.
GGB exhaust is on, will post pics next week.

I´ll keep you posted when we continue.

Jesus man, great job! I am impressed at your dedication toward this boat, equally impressed at the level of components you are installing. Best of luck, keep the updates coming.

WOW! What a great thread. I'm impressed at your detailed work.

There seems to be a trend with these welcraft built boats. Poor build quality seem to be a huge concern.

From what I have heard, the later 22´s had a different laminate, the first layer under the gelcoat being reinforced with glass weave rather than chopped strand mat.

This should most likely be the case for all other Scarabs because it dont make sense to have different building techniques in the house.

However, the transom issue apparently stayed the same and comes from bad craftsmanship.

My 1998 is the final year for the 22' and I have not found any chop gun glass in the hull. It is a very dark red/brown looking resin saturated in to X woven mat. It also has a very shiny appearance to the resin that looks like it was hit with a spray gloss?? beats me... In the deck however I have noticed chopper gun glass in places for filler. Also I have not seen any dry strands like the ones peter describes.

roby

you have told me that before, i think the later scarabs (and maybe not just the 22´s) are of better build quality.
in some way, my boat looks like a prototype; i think ´95 was the first year of the 22.

new pics comin´up next week, engine should come in middle of the week.

I also had a 22 Scarab for 2 years(1995model). Had a ton of fun with it, however I will agree on the quality of construction. My boat was full of fine hairline cracks. I had to re-fibreglass the floor to strenthen it. Stringers also also had some bad cracks. I will admit that I did ride the hell out of the boat.I pulled my 350 motor & installed a new 350/400hp motor/Alpha drive. 69mph on GPS with 6 adults in the boat. Good memories
You will have the baddest 22 out there! Good luck

MORE PICS MORE PICS> Cool project. I have a 1997 Scarab 22. I wish I had the cash and resources to do a restoration like that.
