Hey Fever Mike.... u having a bad day?? Or are you just tired of boats blowing by your CENTER CONSOLE loaded with full fish gear.
Concept...wow!!! real chick machine!!! Maybe your boat would run a little quicker if you emptied the bait wells first?? By the way, my scarab will be on plane and running high 70's b4 you get a chance to close up your tackle box. Dont forget to slow that Concept down and secure the boxs of donuts for the 2 foot bay chop. |

Check out the thread by WickedWon "Apache 33 center console" , It talks about how Concept bought a mold from Apache. I believe they were used for the 30 or 36 or both.

I've personally only seen one of the " wide bodies " and don't know anything about their performance.
JD By the way, I used to run a 1993 38' Scarab that was used as the inside display boat for the 1993 Miami Int Boat Show. We bought it new from Ft. Apache\Wellcraft in 1994. It ran a top of 63 gps with 502's /Bravo's. I think they had 415HP. E.S. |

Re: 96' 38" Scarab with 525 sc's- how fast
Well how fast is it ?I figure some 4bd 24-25p bravo one props at 5100rpm
I would agree with Mike 70 something .They are a heavy slower bottom compared to the newer step design Scarab or even the other name brand step hulls. They do ride and look good. I seen a few put the innercoolers and change the cam and stuff and get a good bit of power out of them.My old 1989 Scarab w/365 mag with merlin heads and blower made 762hp on pump gas :D Good luck Rob |
Re: 96' 38" Scarab with 525 sc's- how fast
Come on now guys......... this is a Scarab thread....... not an Apache thread :p :D
Anyways, I'd figure high 60's to low 70. I run a flat deck 38' with built 468's and regularly see 66mph only spinning 4600rpm. Changing props this winter/ early spring doing testing to catch 70mph or more if I can  OB21 |
Re: 96' 38" Scarab with 525 sc's- how fast
iamfaster
Been on one with 525's. The boys are right on with the numbers for speed. By the way ,,,,,Fever Mikes boat is bad ASS! It would smoke the Scarab. I own a 29 with 502 whipple charger. You gotta give credit where credit is due. The Concept is a nice ride. We don't run our Scarab board like this either. It O.K. to poke fun, just make sure they know your doing it, if that be the case. Thanks!! :D |
Re: 96' 38" Scarab with 525 sc's- how fast
Good friend of mine had a 94 with Hp500's and a 96 with 525 sc's. The 500's would crack 70 on a good day and the 525's would run 72-72.
We cut the pulleys for around 8-9 lbs of boost and av gas and would just touch 79-80. This was with no intercoolers. The 96 was the brouchure boat with the bubble paint scheme. One of the nicest looking boats I have ever seen. |
Re: 96' 38" Scarab with 525 sc's- how fast
SRE... I am turning 28" spinellis @ 5100 rpm's @ 73-74 mph (GPS). Cruise is 46 @3500. The boat weighs 9,100 lbs dry with a 8'9" beam and measures a full 37'10'' not including the platform. The hull is much differ then the old excal hulls in that the lifting strakes are much bigger for more lift. My boat is also the "bubble boat".
