Scarab 38 KV and 377 flatdeck questions.
 

Hi guys,

I have some questions regarding the Wellcraft Scarab 38KV and 377 flat deck.

My questions are:

1) What engines and drives did these boats come with?

2) Does anybody have any pictures of these boats???

3) What was the top speed for these boats?

4) Does anybody have any info. on the 38KV that was used in Miami Vice?


I really love the looks of these boats.

That thread is cool but it does not answer some of the questions that I still have.

like how did Don Johnson get his scarab????

Lots came with 400 cyclones (454) and TRS.
With that power, they ran in the high 60s.
The Miami Vice boat was a 39 chris craft in early episodes, later a 38KV.
Got a few pics, (especially of mine) but no where to post them.

hey qd, wellcraft loaned the boats to universal. after the show was over they were given back to wellcraft, then sold. I have one of them. It was a complete restoration.I will post pics if you would like to see them.

it was most defiantly a 38 they use din miami vice.

actually the orgonal boat was a chris craft stinger. But they switched to a scarab after a short time.

the boats had ¤%¤/425´s plus TRS drives.
Top speed was around 64mph and one I´know of had a top speed in stock form of 52 knots.

38Vice has one...which saeason year boat I would like to know and porbalby the one in germany is one plus the one In Finland too...but only 38Vices boat is mostly pictured.
The one thing that bugs me about the one in Finland is the pink/turquise interior and seats...haven´t seen any episodes with that interior or other boats...it´s supposed to be an 88 model but the serial number tells it´s built late 1987.
All other MV´s have white turquise interiorand normal seats but the german one is it custom fabbed and how long was KV´s in the making?
I believe 86-88 only according to Wellcraft History site.
correct me If I´m wrong. --and the silver (ugly) arch did come in 88 models ?

Mine is an 1982 KV. So they did have KV's being made back then. Still a very solid boat. I was in a 97 38 Fountain on an easy day late season at LOTO and was shocked how much weaker it was :(
