22 Scarab windshield
Hey guys I just bought a 96 22 Scarab would you know any where to get a windshield for it? And Im 20 years old and having a very hard time with insurance, any suggestions on that would be great. Progressive wants like 1200 a year.

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
Hows it going, I can't tell you about the windshield. However, $1200 a year for someone your age is awesome. I checked progressive and many others, found progressive had the best deal going. My 29 scarab runs around 1200 a year with progressive. Hope this helps.

Re: 22 Scarab windshield

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
My buddys dad works with that kind of plastic and if he can make anything that looks close to factory Ill let you know, thats the closest Ive came to getting a wind shield.

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
I had that same boat, the windshield is not functional anyway, if you can't find a way to match the winshield, maybe you can see if your friends dad can modify you some type or windscreen in another material??
Just an idea  |
Re: 22 Scarab windshield

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
Hello, You might want to give "Marine Surplus" in
Sarasota Fl. a call, They are just down the street from from Wellcraft and a few years ago had all the old parts for Scarab Boats. I have a old number in Bradenton of 758-3552, They had a ton of parts stacked all over the place and you almost had to walk around to find stuff. I think the windshields were made by Taylor made, they made most of the Wellcraft windshields. Good Luck. Mike J. |
Re: 22 Scarab windshield
Im not far from them, let me know I could go check it out for ya.

Re: 22 Scarab windshield

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
I have state farm insurance on my 1997 Scarab 22 and I was 27 when i bought it. I pay 370 a year.

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
Well no luck on the windshield. Marine Surplus didnt have one. Its bugging the hell out of me with out it. Im going to have to get one made I guess.

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
Go buy a strip of plexiglass 3/8" thick and bend with heat. My friend just made an entire front windscreen for an old car that way. He used the cracked old windscreen as the former. You could just kind of eyeball it until you get the proper bends.
|
Re: 22 Scarab windshield
Is your windscreen just cracked? If so, you could probably also fill the cracks and paint in the same color as your boat, since it's really not functional anyways. I saw a guy who painted his white, it looked really good.

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
The boat came without the windshield

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
A few years ago, when the windsheilds were still available, I met a guy who had priced them and he said wellcraft wanted $1200 for a new one. I seem to remember seeing something in a thread sometime ago on this board about some one being able to reproduce them. You might try doing a search.

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
Can you send me a picture of this windshield? - I've had several requests and if I can have one in any condition I can make a run of them.
That's what we do! |
Re: 22 Scarab windshield
I bought a new one a few years ago. The dealer told me he sells at least 3 a year. He said they get stepped on. I saved the broken one. Doug

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
If it's complete (the cracked piece is still with it) I can make a mold to produce it. Once the mold is made I can do it in any color, including the new luminescents. Can you send it to me?

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
That would be awsome. Id buy a couple!!
|
Re: 22 Scarab windshield
It's in 2 big pieces, almost in half. Is that ok? Could you pm me your phone? Doug
|
Re: 22 Scarab windshield
Yea, as long as all the pieces are there I can bond it back together long enough to get a mold.

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
AcryliCo,
Can you post your phone number or e-mail it to me? I need a windshield for a 38' Scarab. John Haydock [email protected] |

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
Let me know if you make any windshields for the 22 footer

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
I'm try to figure how to ship my broken 22 windshield to AcryilCo. I know I saved it for a reason. Shipping these things is a real pain in the nutz. I when I got my new one 3 years ago, the box would not fit in the bed of a 8' pick-up. It had to sit at a angle. The broken one is in half, I can't just wrap it so I still new a big box. Doug

Re: 22 Scarab windshield
I just recently purchased one 6 months ago from a dealership in Austin TX. They ordered it for me from Wellcraft. Let me get the receipt and I will give you some figures and phone numbers. I recall paying like 800 or so.
