Anyone other than Pachanga owners?

So far the Searay forum has Pachanga's covered up and that's cool. But how about "other" Searay boats?

I can't be the only one to do something crazy to a Searay. :cool-smiley-027:

I have a `87 S-24 Sorrento. Originally 260/Alpha=45mph, then 350H.O crate engine with modifications and BravoX=57mph. Now a 383, hoping to see 62-65mph...

Alright, I knew there were more out here. :D

I think I have a link to pics in my sig (maybe not, I need to look) but I've got a 2000 240 Sundeck, now with a 540. It may be the most unique, or at least the strangest Sundeck around. ;)

EDIT, I just checked and the link (on OSO) shows no pics anymore. Hmmmmm, wonder why they're gone now?

It's heavy pig but a great family boat that handles pretty rough water really well, carries enough stuff for a family of 27 plsu the 20 gal. of fresh water and the fuel and has run a best on GPS of a little over 65 MPH. Loaded and in the heat of summer it'll still run 62-64.

TexomaPowerboater 10-23-2007 08:45 AM

Wow - I would of never thought to try and get a sundeck up to speed.

I've got a 2004 240 sundeck. Great boat, after the bugs got worked out. Its got a 6.2 merc - top speed around 43mph, which is plenty fast for me. I can't believe you run yours at over 60mph. Compared to my old 24 python it's like dragging a sled through the water at speed. I would not expect her to hold up well at 60mph. Mine has seen better days and I just cruise, but it does handle the rough well.

Believe it or not, it's solid as a rock. At 60+ you can stand up and walk around....although no one generally does that. :D It gets up there pretty quick and is really kind of a boring run. You know how quick they plane, once on plane throttle up (I take it easy on the BIII) and run it up quick and easy.

But it's obviously not designed for that. It's heavy and there's a lot of boat in the water, but that makes for a nice run even in rough stuff.

BTW, I just realized you said 43MPH with a 6.2. I hope you meant 53 MPH? Although 53 MPH is optomistic, with a 6.2 you should be hitting 50 easily. My 7.4 would and most 350 MAG's will hit 48MPH or so. You should be able to hit 50-51 MPH without a problem. If you're not, there's something keeping it down. The newer ones are even slightly lighter than the 2000's.

TexomaPowerboater 10-29-2007 12:21 PM

Nope - I meant 43mph. Maybe its all the crap I've got in it. Ditto on the boring drive. I keep my hands off the wheel 50% of the time, but its a great boat for my fiancee to learn with. I never fill up the 20 gallon water tank because with a full load it puts too much weight on the back and water starts coming in from the drains. Plus the water is only good for a week or so before it starts getting too hot and stinks. It takes for ever to empty the tank. I'm going to have to keep a look out for you on Texoma, whats the name of your Sea Ray? Ours is blue - named "Kalona Maku" which means Sherry's Boat in Hawaiin. Keep an eye out for us. Also keep an eye out for this bad boy: http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o18918-en.html my surveyor is testdriving it today. It should not be too hard to miss. :D

Who says Sea Ray didn't make performance boats after the Changa? Look at this thing, that could be a go fast, couldn't it?

Wow!!! I never knew they made a 31SS. I know someone with a 280SS with t-350 Mags and thru-hull exhaust that will run 60 MPH. A 31, although older so I don't know what the hull is like, but with t-496HO's should run really well.

That one looks really clean too.

The newer SS's are like a DA but with a larger cockpit area. Otherwise they look almost the same, but appear to have a slightly lower freeboard.
