I cant remember exhactly what they were idling at but I know it wasn't 1000. if I had to guess, more like 650-750 in gear. what rpm do you idle yours if you don't go 1000?

a neighbor of my father is very good with radio control helicopters. he recently flew around the cove where they live with a gopro and made a video, then gave it out to the neighbors. pretty cool!

I have used the Damiens diesel pan saver before with GREAT luck. very easy to install and has had no issues for 3 years now. def would go that route if I were you.
