Sliding the tool in and out with two fingers sounds like what i was thinking... Checking the grease amount around the shaft should help me get an idea of what direction it needs to be adjusted...

Engine allignment help!

Rebuilt a 383 small block (330hp) in a Formula 242LS with an Alpha outdrive. Put engine back in last night and not sure if alligned properly to gimbal housing. Inserted the Mercruiser allignment...

one more thing to check... oil level... if too high, over time the crankshaft will have a tendacy to aerate/foam the oil which then causes additional drag on the cranksaft as well as possibly...

You are definately on the right track, needle and seat are first to change. Also, make sure float is adjusted to correct height.

Last Sunday, while cruising at 3000 rpm, engine started running rough and well zero...
