Question Extreme Trailer, disk brake question

I have a 3 year old tandem axle trailer from Extreme (with leaf springs as opposed to torsion bars) and with four wheel disk brakes. I have noticed that there seems to be ongoing "clanking" noises...

Re: Hydromotive P5X results are in

What should the trim be set at when measuring this way? On my 25' Carrera cat, I measure the centerline of the prop shaft dead even with the outside sponsons (lowest part of the hull) when the trim...

Re: B-Max drive "coupler" question

EWB, thanks for the correct terminology on that part that we are talking about. Do you know why yours are breaking? This is the first time in 3 years of hard running that I had that particular part...

B-Max drive "coupler" question

I competed in the Sacramento Bridge to Bridge radar runs last weekend and did real well (132 on radar and 135 mph on GPS) but I broke what I would call a coupler that houses the U-Joints on the drive...

Re: Cause for early ring failure with 4.625" bore blower motor?

CCP, the builder did have the tops of the pistons coated. Is that what you are talking about or are you referring to the sides and or bottoms of the pistons?

Re: Cause for early ring failure with 4.625" bore blower motor?

Lou, I hear you about the plug checking process. I pulled two plugs right after shutting down after a long WOT pass so the idle shouldn't cause inacurate readings.

Bob, the pistons are lateral...

Re: Cause for early ring failure with 4.625" bore blower motor?

Lou and Rob, thanks for staying with me on this. Other than the high oil consumption (and the ugly leak down numbers), I wouldn't even think I had a problem. I ran it several hours over this last...

Re: Cause for early ring failure with 4.625" bore blower motor?

Strip Poker and Lou, I got the new leak down numbers back today that you asked about and as suspected they aren't good. The worst cylinder (#5) was 30%, #6 was 28%, the best cylinder was 17% and the...

Re: Cause for early ring failure with 4.625" bore blower motor?

Smitty, I wish I could get to only a 3% leak down on this motor. :) I also have a smaller 580" (4.50" stroke x 4.560" bore) blower motor built by another builder and it doesn't use a drop of oil...

Re: Cause for early ring failure with 4.625" bore blower motor?

Thanks guys for the feedback. By the way the crank stroke is the same as the bore (4.625"). To answer some of your questions:
Roby: I think the Merlin Pro tall deck block is a siamese type block but...

Cause for early ring failure with 4.625" bore blower motor?

I was wondering if anyone else out there is running a large bore size (4.625") blower motor (Merlin Pro tall deck block). I am having problems with early (20 hours) ring failure and would like to...

Re: All Cat Owners

They told me that they don't insure in CA (where I live). :(

SR-24 you might want to see if they insure the state that you live in.

Re: All Cat Owners

I called everyone that I could think of to try to get insurance on my 25' Carrera. When I tell them it has 1100 hp, they do the calculations and say it's capable of going over 120 mph (they are...

Re: Is Bmax the answer???

I have 3 years and 240 hours on mine in my 25' cat with 1200 hp at 120+. I take it pretty easy getting on plane and accelerating up to around 60, then I go to WOT. I have broken maybe 3 prop shafts...

timucin, I have a 621" BBC with a 14-71 blower and I get about 9 psi boost (at 6,300 rpm) running 12% over. I would run a 14-71 on anything bigger than 600". Hope this helps.

Shameless, thanks. Same back to you.

Cat, yeah I tried to convince Sy that my 25'-7" Carrera was closer to 26' than 25' but he still wouldn't touch it. Same with Bob. It might have been the 1100+...

I have been having a very difficult time trying to get insurance for my 1100+ hp, 25' cat. A local broker says he can get me a policy underwritten by a company out of Quebec called North American...
