I need the number to a good mercruiser engine place. I have been chasing a problem for 4 months. I am near chicago il. My issue is on my 500hp carbed. The gauge does not mimic the temp of the engine....

Looking to repower, the 496 is rated at 425hp and the 500hp is supposed to be 500hp. How many gens of 500hp's are there and are they all rated the same. I am looking at the carbed version.
