On the maiden voyage I pulled out (just fine), shifted to forward (just fine), and pulled up to the dock (while i waited for my spotter). ...

Do I need to gel coat before I carpet?

I am currently restoring my 20' Regal and my deck needs to be replaced. I plan to recarpet (used to pull tubes), but I do not know if I should gel coat the deck before I carpet.

Any thoughts?

I assume priming the engine helps to lube everything up?
