The latest.... Did a few more tests....noise...

The latest....

Did a few more tests....noise is getting worse/louder. Pulled off each plug wire while running to the see noise changed...it did. Sounds like #1 rod bearing. time to pull it down...

Timing was set (grounded out T/bolt ignition). still good. Will check h/balancer. Sounds like coming from port side upper.

Will update when I rip into it.

Engine noise 454 Gen VI

Just did a rebuild on a Gen VI 454. Engine has about 10 hrs on it. Runs fine up to about 1900-2200 RPMs or so.

New mains, rod bearings, rings, and heads redone.

Oil pressure good (40 to 60)...

Have a 454 with a Weber 9780 S that needs replaced. Does anyone know what the CFM is on this (650 or 750) ? And is the Edlebrock 1410/750 CFM a direct replacement ? (Know Edlebrock is building...

Well the 502 turned out to be a 454 Gen VI. It is a late 90's Mercrusier rebuilt....the Mercury Marine tag number 061047 and has less than 100 hours on it.

I have a 1995 Sea Ray with a 454 (7.4) with a tired engine and have a line on a 502 (8.2) out of a 97 Fountain (Think all Fountains had Mags as well). Will it work without any mods ?

It is a Bravo 1. Pulled it because of overheating problems. When I pulled the heads the head gaskets holes were clogged up and also found chunks of the cylinder walls were laying in the water jackets...

Repower suggestions: 7.4 24' Sea Ray

I pulled my 1996 7.4 (Block has salt water damage: Gen 6 casting 297 with large oval 156 heads 119CC (carb engine)) an I am looking to repower with a bit more power.

Some of the sites list a 297...
