Thanks for the great response, lots to think about. The drive has 1.32 gears so the prop will spin really fast. The boats dry weight I believe is about 3200 lbs.

Appreciate your honesty, but like I mentioned, this is the UK and powerboats are pretty rare. I am not too bothered about speed, I just need the prop well matched to the engine and drives ability.

Strangley after a cool down I managed to get 60psi, but I can see by the debris in the pick up that it was struggling. the pick up was blocked solid causing the pump to bypass!

Quick update: Started the boat from cold...

Quick update:

Started the boat from cold yesterday(frist time since pressure problem). Pressure immediately went to 65psi, but as the boat warmed up the pressure fell down to about 20psi hot idle....

Hi guys, took the boat out yesterday for a long run in the sun and after 20 minutes the oil pressure started creeping below 40psi, then within another minute or so was at 20psi, then all of a sudden...

Well, problem solved. I dialled in 32 degrees at 3000 and it now pulls lovely and doesnt miss a beat. I had it doing 46 mph within a few seconds but had to throttle back as was running out of water! ...

I have just completed a 2 year restoration on the entire boat and engine and am so close to getting it sorted.
