Bob that does help. It helps me realize something is definatly wrong... What kind of 31. How much did it weigh.. I know this boat of mine should go deep in the 70's if not the low 80's.

I'm running a -8 from the pump to the carb. Gauge is at the pump. I am running in line fuel filters by earls. They are after the gauge. I could try to move the senders up by the carbs to make sure...

I did a plug reading at 4k which puts me just into the secondaries and the plugs were very lean. that was 80 front 82 back. So I upped to 82 front 84 back that worked good at 4k. I have not taken a...

I have 7.5 psi on one motor and 8 on the other at 5k under load. The guages never move from idle to 5k thats what they read. i have switched senders and the read the same.

Good call guys I looked at it during my lunch and the last 3 clicks on the throttles do very little. At 3/4 throttle I am almost as wide as they will open.

That actually is bad news though. Now...

good thought I'll check that..

I don't think the carb is too big, per every formula I have seen 850 is right on the money for a 502 spinning 5400. I know now the cam seems to be too big.

Good thought but yes I did. Springs are also new and were individually checked before installation. Motors were professionally built. Not that no one is capable of maikng mistakes. But I would bet...

I just built 2 502's over the winter. They are stock compression. Heads have been pocket ported. Cam is a 238 248 Comp Cams Extreme Marine, 850 Holley DP's, Air Gap intakes. The exhaust is crap stock...
