So what would happen if the spacer were in first and then the t-stat in the top load style? Trying to make sense of how and why it was designed with the spacer....

HP500 carb thermostat aassymbly question

Does anyone have an exploded view of an hp500 carb thermostat housing? I'm wondering if the thermostat goes above or below the brass spacer ring, and what the difference would be between the two...
