I'm not sure what the active ingredient is but I do think it has a mild detergent and acid in the gel form that it has. I can tell you that it was orinigally formulated to use on pool scum lines on...

It can but paint should not stain like fiberglass since it's not nearly as porous. To test it don't leave it on for more than a couple of minutes and rinse thuroughly to see if there is any affect....

BTW - Frenzy is saying NOT to use On/Off for frequent use (i.e. - yearly or more frequent) because it does harm the gel coat. Any strong concentrated acid like that will. Also beware of the damage...
