All of those 'generated emails' can be disabled thru the Member Control Panel as well under the messaging and notifications section. You can set up to have no emails sent on receipt of private...

Have you enabled it?

FYI Folks .... you can easily turn off (if you want) the option of receiving email from the administration by going into ---> 'member control panel' ---> 'edit options' ---> 'allow Bulletin Board...
