I 2nd that. It's all about the proper care/maintenance by the owner that makes the difference. I'm very happy with my steel trailer but I'm in fresh water.

I have been to Paddy's before and it was pretty easy to get to with plenty of docking. Pop's is just before Paddy's and say's they also have plenty of docking.

I would agree about the higher amounts of debri in the East River around NYC but the river this time of year is not as bad as some make it out to be. If it was early spring you would not catch me out...

It can get very rough in the NY harbor from all the ferry and boat traffic. Outside of that as long as the winds are calm he should be ok on the rest of the trip.

I ran down to Barneget last weekend on the outside and from the Varazano Bridge it's 65 miles to the inlet, it took me 1 1/2 hrs both times (up & back) running at 47 MPH.
I think AC is about 20...
