GIL were standard manifolds on some of the older HP motors, my stock 525SC GIL had Mercriuser logos on them.

The boat looks really clean, the 27 is a nice ride withe 525SC. I doubt you will see 78.5mph on GPS though.

I think a B1 28 would probably be what you need if you have a 1.5:1 drive. Speed, around 80mph.

My -93 came with a Mach Sterndriver 24", they were 14.5" diameter. I guess your boat came with a Mach. Fountain started to use Hydromotives in mid 90s. What rpms are you seeing at wot? Maybe a Bravo...

Personally I have no experiance with the stepped bottom. Check for soft transom/stringers, the 525SC is very reliable if maintained properly.

I would guess around 3mph. I had a HP500 in the boat while rebuilding the 525, i really like the 525SC over the HP500. It should be a blast in a stepped 27.

I have a 525SC in my -93. I can easily hit 73mph fully loaded. My motor is .60 over with 8.5:1 and I'm running -2 lower with a 24" P5X.

I have 4X5 sport on my 525SC with CMI E-tops. Very happy with them, definatley toned down the exhaust note.

You will be over 70. I had a carb HP500 in my 27 (non step) using a beat up March Sterndriver 14.5"x24 and got 70+ at 5300rpm. I would go with a B1 26 or 25/26 Hydromotive.

Not semi dry, but I'm very happy with my 5.5" inserts (CMI e-top 4" tailpipes on a 525SC). I got them from GGB last spring.
