if you're sticking with a 1500 then stick with a smaller boat. There is nothing wrong with getting an older duramax for the same price as a new gas 1500, and you will be way happier that you did....

so after replacing the power valves both motors seemed to run a tiny little better, then moved onto timing and I think i'm finally good to go. One motor was at only 26 degrees while other was at 30....

boat is a 1978 scarab with twin 502's that have been converted to carbs. bought the boat 2 months ago, both motors ran and fuel pumps worked. needed lots of little things here and there like bellows...
