A lot of this is in the tuning. Many "rules of thumb" stem from years ago, where carburetors, locked timing, and reading plugs was the norm when tuning an engine .

Today, you'll see cars coming...

I dont think theres really a need for multiple fuel pumps, especially multiple pumps of different design, in this application.

Sometimes, all the rigging , elbows, tees, and various fittings do...

Price seems high, but I really dont know because I never paid marine mechanics, always did my own stuff.

I personally wouldnt run 90 octane, unless it was very low compression, and low boost. I...

None of that stuff is hard to do yourself. So, either learn to do it yourself, or write the check. Curious though, why are you running 90 octane fuel with a supercharged engine? What is the...

sounds lean at idle, or air bleeds clogged with crud. I would blow the idle circuit out with carb clean, reset idle mixture screws and idle speed setting. Id ditch the locked timing as well

They found 50hp in this 540ci bbc going from 1.75" to 2.25" headers. I'll bet if they had tried a set of "stainless marine" or "gils", there would have been a 50-75hp gain going to 2.25 headers. This...

I think the real question here, is how much power are you looking to make? A good 8-71 will support 900-1000HP. If youre looking to make more than that, a bigger roots, or whipple would be the way to...

I am going to assume this is a 4.5" stroke 572? a 4.5 stroke engine will need substantially more duration to hit 5500, than a 4.25 or 4.00 stroke.

Ok , heres the deal with your current cam. Its a...

I dont really care much about the point of peak power (within reason that is). My 468s kept making power to 6500rpm on dyno. I ran them at 6200 in boat though.

If you were to look at volumetric...

Pickle, here is a build that had a similar cam as the 741. It was borgies 496 build. Cam was a madera 237/246 112 lsa with 650ish lift. Very similar to the 741 crane. Afr heads

made nice power....

What exhaust will you be running? The 741 cam will not be too big. For a 6k rpm combo, it will actually be a bit small for a 496ci. Id also lean towards a single plane intake on a combo like this.

I agree. Ssm gen 3 are great on forced induction due to their sheer size. NA, they just dont have the runner length. Regular stainless marine manifolds, probably give up 40hp or better on a 650hp NA...

Its really not a matter of how much HP a particular exhaust setup can "support". You can make 800hp thru a set of gils with enough boost in a forced induction build.
